The leading edge of the Lenape frontier from Alexandria Lake had passed to the east and south at least a half century before.  So, some people in Greenland could remember the "mild lands" along the shore of Lake Michigan.

The LENAPE had latitude devices capable of determining latitude within +/- 30 miles.  The "triple cross" would have meant two sets of 10 degrees N & South.  Milwaukee, WI, is about 20 degrees south of the Northern Settlement in Greenland.
