INSTRUCTIONS for VETTING

Decipherment is a process of finding the correct LENAPE syllables that may have created the Maalan Aarum sounds recorded by the Moravian Priests in 1821.

The Volumes of the Viking and the Red Man (VRM) contain over 30,000 Lenape words.  These words were searched to find the one that may have created the sound.  When the possible Lenape word was located, the volume and page number was recorded.  The VRM volume and page number was recorded in the Details Section of the decipherment post for each Stanza.

Vetting by searching through the VRM volumes is difficult because the VRM volumes may not be available.  Also, there can be some confusion about the exact Lenape word chosen.

A newer vetting process is being prepared.  The VRM volumes are now available as an electronic file for each VRM page.  The Photoshop program enables the decipherers to select the correct file and to point to the correct word with a black arrow.

Then the marked page can be added to a blog or web site.

The volume and page number can be linked to the correct volume and page number in the decipherment post.

So the VETTING PROCESS BECOMES

1. Locate the volume and page number reference in the details section of the decipherment post associated with a stanza.

2.  Click on the link.  [You should see a page from the VRM with a black arrow on it.]  Confirm that the Lenape, or sometimes, Old Norse syllables appear to have been the syllables that caused the recorded sound.

3.  Check through the Lenape to Old Norse and Old Norse to English for decipherment conformity with the VRM

4.  Repeat the check of the links to the VRM pages for each set of sounds,

5.  If all OK, look at the Drottkvaett, if it exists, primarily to check if the Alliterations and Rhymes are tallied correctly.

NOTE discrepancies or possible improvements.

As of APRIL 26 the new process can vet only the stanza titled Geese and whales.
