Then in
upper left corner
SCROLL DOWN UNTIL YOU SEE:

The LENAPE walked across
 UNGAVA PENNINSULA via PAYNE LAKE
Count the blue dots facing Ungava Bay.
They represent longhouse remains.
How many do you see?

How many people do you think could rest and recover in those shelters?

The evidence indicates that Pamiok (Nice folks) Island was the main transition spot for the LENAPE.
.
Then the LENAPE, who came off the ice over Davis Strait walked west across the Ungava Peninsula.

Payne Lake may have originslly been called “Panne” Lake because it is shaped like a pan.  The long flat “pan bottom” lies on the North side, making a long east and west span of ice.  So, Payne Lake would have aided the LENAPE by providing many more miles of “Wonderful, Slippery Water.

West of Payne Lake there were a series of beaver dams stepping down to the Christian Sea.  So, once again the LENAPE were able to walk on stone hard water rather than slog through snowdrifts.

When the LENAPE reached The Christian Sea, they turned south toward the Belcher islands shown in the bottom left corner.

Three centuries earlier, about AD 1020, Leif Erickson’s men had reported a “Granary” (on top of a cairn) on those islands.   We do not know if the Granary was stocked for the LENAPE'S use, but the LENAPE hunters might not have missed the opportunity.

On the web site, just below the picture of Ungava Pennisula is a VIDEO.  You may have to click on the > arrows in two places to start it.

Watch FULL SCREEN and with ADDIO until the moving red trace goes up the “Hudson” Strait [not across the peninsula] and down to James Bay.

Then  STOP!

The rest of the video is better understood when we get to the relevant stanzas of the LENAPE history.

REFERRING to the video:

Pay attention to Thomas E. Lee and
Patricia Sutherland.

Can you discern, just by looking at them, a possible
reason why: Lee was driven out of the Canadian Archaeological Society and
Sutherlans was fired from the Civilization of Man?

During 29 years of our life-time this video was kept in the can."
How would your mental model of
ancient North
America have changed if you had seen the Video?
